‘Universal Healthcare’ still needs a lot of work

While Mitt Romney’s system may have gotten the uninsured to join a health plan, it has also put an
unexpected financial burden on those who in no way violated the new policy.

The law requires employers to provide health insurance. But, those companies failing to do so are never punished in any way. Rather, the uninsured individual is taxed heavily for the employers’ failure. I found out the hard way my employer was bouncing the checks to our health insurance provider. While I had a health insurance card in my wallet, I had no idea I wasn’t actually covered. Come tax time, I owed nearly a thousand dollars for failing to procure health insurance. I appealed, I fingered my employer, and I still owed. My boss got off without a slap on the wrist, and I’m out $917!

Thanks, Mitt! (I’m so glad the health bill is in your new portrait at the State House.)

WE CANNOT HAVE THIS HEALTH PLAN NATION-WIDE. THOSE WHO WROTE IT ARE UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT FROM THE MINUTE AMERICANS GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE, THEY HAVE ONE EMPLOYER AND ONE HEALTH PLAN UNTIL THE DAY THEY DIE. THE SYSTEM IS TOUTED AS
‘HEALTHCARE FOR ALL’ BUT IT FAILS TO IDENTIFY AND PUNISH THOSE WHO FAIL TO UPHOLD THE NEW LAW, AND IT DOESN’T ACCOUNT FOR JOB CHANGES. IT IS JUST ANOTHER HUGE GASH IN MY WALLET.

Dear Mr. President, don’t adopt Massachusetts’ healthcare system. Get feedback from real people, fix the holes, and do a better job. Thank you. ~PurplePlease
